WHY
THE PUFL.
Giving form to our perspective,
starting with flowers.
Shinmachi-Takatsuji, Kyoto.
The story of THE PUFL begins in a traditional machiya townhouse.
THE PUFL is more than
a place to buy flowers.
The idea for THE PUFL began after our founder returned to Japan following around eight years abroad and made Kyoto their base. They wanted a place where they could continue creating from their own perspective.
Flowers became the starting point: a medium for expression at every scale, from a single stem to an entire space. We saw the potential to develop a distinctive aesthetic not only through the flowers themselves, but through their relationships with vessels and their surroundings.
Our flagship occupies a machiya of approximately 420 square metres in Shinmachi-Takatsuji, Kyoto. Here, everyday flowers, exhibitions, vessels and space come together as one collection. In time, we hope to extend this perspective into food, fragrance, jewellery and places to stay.
